There was a nice Merlin show today.  For example, after a male ML chased a small songbird a bit, a female ML deftly grabbed it and ate it atop the power line pole.  Attempts to find so much as a wing on the ground were unsuccessful.  A few minutes later, she saw and tore after another bird at the feeders, about a Park-width away.  Insatiable appetite, apparently.
A few RT Hummingbirds and Gnatcatchers, a Kingbird, Tree Swallows, Osprey -- that was about it today.
The September hawk total as of Thursday 9/19 is a paltry 1227.  Let's hope for a FROPA or two, with correspondingly strong NW winds, before this month ends.
