Bill, Thank you for that information. Yesterday late afternoon we had hundreds of large dragonflies in our yard in northern Washington County (west of Pittsburgh). We could see that they were darting rapidly and eating small flying insects. We had no idea why or where they came from. Thank you so much for enlightening us!

Yesterday between 5-6pm at Petroleum Oh and Hubbard Oh huge swarms in the thousands of Green Darner Dragon flies (not confirmed species ) were seen eating and darting eating Gnats I have never seen this before although Dragon fly sightings are noted at all Hawk watch sites across Pa/Ohio Hawk Mountain Alleghany front and Cape may nice change from normal birding Bill Drolsbaugh Mercer co Pa
