Subject: [PortlandAreaBirds] Black-necked Stilt and Stilt Sandpiper still on Sauvie Island, Round Lake today
This morning, Susan Kirkbride and I observed the Black-necked Stilt and
Stilt Sandpiper that have been seen recently at Round Lake on Sauvie
Island, Columbia county. If you walk down to the boat ramp near the
north-south dirt road that is the continuation of Sauvie Island Rd, then go
right, you have a good view of the lake and mudflats. The stilt was easy
to see on the other side of the lake from the boat ramp. The Stilt
Sandpiper was more elusive, feeding quietly near the south end of the lake
with some Lesser Yellowlegs. A Long-billed Dowitcher, Greater Yellowlegs
and Spotted Sandpiper were also present. Susan has photos on her ebird
checklist. https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S59666965
