Today, Monday 9/9/19, we still had what appeared to be 3 ruby throated hummingbirds at the various salvias and cardinal flowers. Pineapple salvia seems to be a big draw. Giant swallowtail butterfly and monarch were still at the zinnias.
Brown thrasher, hairy woodpecker, downy woodpecker, catbird, white breasted nuthatch, chickadees, carolina wrens and a number of sparrows (song, house) and a starling were eating suet dough.
Lots of cardinals with the young ones came for sunflower seed.
Goldfinches and house finches at the thistle and on the zinnias pulling out the flower petals to get at the zinnia seeds.
Robins looking for bugs on the lawn, mourning doves and other birds flying in and out too quickly to identify (looked like maybe a phoebe or some type of small flycatcher). Lots of activity, early morning and evening.
