My reporting area includes all of Lehigh and Northampton Counties with the
northern edge of the area reaching Beltzville State Park and the southern
edge reaching Peace Valley Park in Bucks County. Updates are typically done
every Friday, more often when necessary.

There will be a field trip to the Whitehall Parkway on September 7th. Meet
at the Whitehall Parkway’s Chestnut Street parking lot at the barn, west of
Route 145 at 7:30 AM. Trip leader will be Frank Dickman.

There will also be an all-day field trip to Cape May, New Jersey on
September 14th. Meet at the Tilghman Square parking lot, near the Red Robin
restaurant, just west of Route 309 at 5:00 AM. Trip leader will be Scott
Burnet.

The next Audubon program will be held on September 13th at 7:00 PM at the
Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary (formerly known as the Wildlands
Conservancy) in Emmaus. Brandon Swayser will do a program on Fall migrant
identification tips.

Sightings from the EASTON area, Northampton County:
BROWN BOOBY – 1 on 8/20 (sub-adult photographed perched on a stump along a
wooded hillside). Photos not sent out until the next day when the bird was
gone. The 1st Northampton County record!

Sightings from LOWER NAZARETH TOWNSHIP, Northampton County:
BROWN BOOBY – 1 on 8/26 (fly-by over the Route 248 exit of Route 33). Most
likely the same bird seen in Easton.

Sightings from the GREEN POND area, Northampton County:
BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON – 1 on 8/24 (immature)
LITTLE BLUE HERON – 1 on 8/31 (fly-by)
GLOSSY IBIS – 1 on 8/18
