Carpinteria Beach, Early morning, August 13, 2019

Plenty of Willets, several Whimbrels, 2 LB Curlew and a few Sanderlings. 300-bird gull flock, Western and Heermann’s equally represented with a couple dozen CA Gulls thrown in for good measure. Reassuring number (60) of Brown Pelicans in a long skein. Several each Snowy and Great Egrets in the Carp Creek lagoon, which is not reaching the ocean this morning at low tide.
