Subject: [PortlandAreaBirds] possible long-toed stint
Long toed stint compared to least sandpiper, from the online app of the Princeton Field Guide to the Birds of Europe, second edition. App is called the Collins Bird Guide; it’s terrific.

Slightly larger
Bill “usually” with pale base to lower mandible
Longer neck and legs, especially tibiae
Toes noticeably long, with middle toe slightly longer than tarsus, a little shorter in least
Toes project somewhat beyond tail in flight, unlike least
Forehead “often” dark brown to bill, supercilia “usually” join across forehead on least
Supercilia whiter and broader, “often” with split over eye, compared to least
Lores “usually” paler than least’s
“often” rufous-tinged “cap”
