The Ground Squirrel Gazette
June 8, 2019
A lovely day at HQ with a few pewees, an Olive-sided, a Mac or two and a Wilson’s Warbler and a couple of empids drifting about. The southern part of the county offered a redstart at Fields by the Heyerlys and continued migratory action at other sites.
I heard a report of a weasel hunting ground squirrels near the parking lot.
Mosquitos were not a big issue at HQ today. They have been worse at most other sites including the Field Station and Page Springs.
A gentleman who introduced himself as William L. Finley’s grandson stopped by, a nice surprise.
