Subject: [CT Birds] Bolton Notch St Pk
Took the day off from work, hoping for a big migration day at Bolton Notch SP. Wasn't the "Big Day", but was still okay (better than working...). Birds of note as follows:
4 Canada Warbler, 1 Magnolia Warbler, 1 Blackburnian Warbler, 1 Balck-throated Blue Warbler, 8 Northern Parula, many Black-and-White Warblers, 5 Yellow Warbler, 3 American Redstart, 1 singing Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 4 Common Yellowthroat, 2 Pine Warbler, 1 Prairie Warbler, 1 Louisiana Waterthrush, 2 Blue-headed Vireo, many Warbling Vireo, 1 Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, 1 Wood Thrush, 2 Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Orioles everywhere. What I thought was noteworthy was finally finding a Belted Kingfisher, which has been strangely absent until now at this park. The pond seems like ideal habitat for them.
