Subject: [CT Birds] Racebrook GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER
5/6. Woodbridge, Rt 114 (Racebrook Rd), Racebrook Tract - I am posting for Linda Olsen, who today photographed an apparent female GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER that fed in a blooming apple tree for 5 minutes. She and several other birders searched in vain for it this afternoon. She said it did not vocalize. From the parking lot off Rt 114 (Racebrook Rd), N of Rt 34, walk N through the metal gate on the level wide grassy path. This path eventually leads through woods to a grass field/meadow. Before that there are several apple trees in bloom along the right side of the trail. She photographed the bird in one of those trees. There are singing Blue-winged Warblers around as well as several other warblers, vireos, and thrushes.
