Subject: [CT Birds] Rainy Hammo SP, Rocky Neck SP drive through
On and off rain showers in early afternoon at Hammonassett St Pk. Did a quick drive through the park, and scoped from the car.
100+ Northern Gannets off of Meigs Point heading west. 50 or so very close to shore. Mix of adult, 2nd year, and 3rd year birds. Previously reported Pectoral Sandpiper and Least Sandpiper at far west end largest puddle/grass pond. Only a few Ring-billed and Herring Gulls noted, with no Lesser Black-backed seen. Usual mix of regulars seen.
At Rocky Neck St Pk, 1 Glossy Ibis and 4 Northern Shovelers in marsh north of roadway. 6 Snowy Egret in marsh on both sides of road.
