Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you see a Swallow-tailed Kite
Post its direction, too
(Is it any wonder I'm not an English professor?)
Seriously, nice poem Donata, especially at 430 am...

Same to report in Abita Springs - had a red-breasted nuthatch, golden-crowned kinglets, goldfinch, and a singing white-throated sparrow to top it off. Inspired to verse (keep the right songs in mind):
So easy to stay
Fresh green leaves flush and full
Of hiding places
A white-throated sparrow
Tries out its melancholy song
Maybe we don’t have to leave
Save ourselves the trouble, yeah?
Stick around a bit longer
Maybe there is space for us?
Oh sparrow, it’s time to go
The Swainson’s warbler replies
