Friday, 2/8, there were 9 Hooded Mergansers on the last wooded section of Santa Rosa Creek before it opens onto the beach. There were 4 alt plumaged males and 5 females.
Additionally an old sighting from 1/30, just for interest: On Turri Road, just west of the hairpin curve, on the fence wires…an estimated 80-100 Lesser Goldfinches, plus more on the weeds on the hillside, flocks constantly exchanging position between the weeds and the fence wires. I’d never seen so many goldfinches in a flock.
