Presenter: George Gress, Fire Specialist/Land Steward, PA Chapter of The Nature Conservancy
The Lancaster County Bird Club will meet Thursday, February 14, 2019 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium of the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Rd., Lancaster, PA.
George Gress, Fire Specialist/Land Steward for the PA Chapter of The Nature Conservancy (TNC), will present a program titled, "Critical Connections - Denali." This project is seeking to learn more about the migration of birds that breed in Denali National Park, and to connect Denali with the places from where its visitors come. Learn about the technology and field work that is being used to track migrating birds across the world. George assists with fire training and planning, and is a member of the chapter's prescribed fire crew. He also manages the chapter's Bog Turtle program and assists with all aspects of the management of TNC's preserves in PA. He is an avid photographer and is involved in several bird research projects including Saw-whet Owl banding and the Critical Connections project in Denali NP, Alaska.
