Subject: [slocobirding] Long-tailed Duck at Oceano
This morning there was a Long-tailed Duck foraging in the shallow surf zone about 200 meters north of the Pier Ave beach entrance in Oceano. It was first seen at about 9:30 am, and was still present at about 1:30 pm. https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S52149462

Closer to the Pismo Pier there were three Western Grebes up on the beach, all with oiled plumage. I was told that there have been others in this condition lately too. At least two of those seen today were recovered by Oceano Dunes park staff and transferred to Pacific Wildlife Care for treatment.
