Subject: [slocobirding] Sunday Festival Boat Trip
Highlights for the half day boat trip for the Morro Bay winter Bird Festival
on Sunday Jan 20 were a Parasitic Jaeger and a Black-legged Kittiwake. Also
seen were many Rhinoceros Auklets and Common Murres and a few Red
Phalaropes. Most unusual was the lack of a single tubenose species during
the morning.

This was not a surprise given how far we had to get offshore to find the
shearwaters and albatrosses on Saturday. One thing that seemed a little odd
on Sunday was the number of Brandt's Cormorant and Brown Pelican ranging for
20 to 25 mile offshore. It would appear there is a lack of nearshore food
available.
