Hello Bird People,

Yesterday it was 22 degrees at the start & today it was 19 but was 25
by the end of my walk.
Did more feeder birding today but unlike yesterday at the Red
Schoolhouse where birds were in good numbers today only a few birds
were at the Crabtree feeders. Part of the reason for that was another
adult Cooper's Hawk nearby but even when no hawk was around there were
few birds at the feeders which were well filled but ignored. Unlike at
the feeders birds were plentiful on the Phantom Prairie trail where
all the berry eating birds were after all the Buckthorne berries. The
water areas were frozen with no water birds.

Crabtree Nature Center (9:15-11 a.m.)

Canada Geese (heard a few flying by)
Cooper's Hawk (1-AD, doing his own feeder watch)
Mourning Dove (only 1)
Red Bellied Woodpecker (2 together)
Downy Woodpecker (3)
Hairy Woodpecker (1-M at Phantom Prairie)
Flicker (heard 1)
Crow (3 fly-bys)
Chickadee (6)
W.B. Nuthatch (2)
Robins (lots, about 47)
CEDAR WAXWING (~55, even more than the Robins)
(The Bluebirds, Robins & Waxwings were all at the berry trees along
with a few Goldfinches)
Tree Sparrow (1 or 2)
SONG SPARROW (2 together)
Goldfinch (6)

Along with 2 roadside additions (Pigeons & Starlings) I only had 18
species for the day.
Bird-Of-The-Day to the very blue Bluebirds & Runner-Up to all the
Cedar Waxwings.

Checked Baker's Lake but found it to be frozen & birdless.
