One could also use just the corresponding Atlas block as the location for roosting owls, so long as the suitable habitat in the block isn’t too limited. That should be vague enough, yet still provide useful data for eBird’s purposes. If, however, the roost would still be too easy to find, then I would agree with those who recommend delaying the report.
