Date: 1/4/19 4:44 pm From: Pepper <pepper.trail...> Subject: [RV Birds] Redstart and Virginia Rail near Ashland Pond
The female American Redstart was re-sighted near Ashland Pond today, at the same location described earlier: at the end of the small trail taking off to the right from the Ashland Pond loop trail, following Ashland Creek upstream. It was in brambles upstream from the small dam visible at the end of this trail. Spotted by Denny Niebuhr and Edith Lindner, and eventually (very eventually...) briefly re-appearing. As we waited, we were startled to see a Virginia Rail zip across the creek and disappear into the thick streamside vegetation. It declined to be lured back into view by playback.
