Date: 1/4/19 7:15 am From: Derek Hudgins <derekhudgins...> Subject: [MDBirding] Varied Thrush Seen January 4
The Varied Thrush was seen briefly at 9:15 in the ditch along the right side of Brenda Ct., then again from 9:45 to 10:05 foraging in the dirt in front of the house across the street from the pin. It also perched for about ten minutes 10-15 feet off the ground on an exposed branch above the tree with dead leaves closest to the Brenda Ct. sign. Thrush was first spotted by the neighbor who lives across the street from the pin. He says he sees it mostly from 8-9, occasionally around 1, and around 4; the bird is skittish.
Access guidelines: The bird was seen today in the woods on the left (north) side of 22070 Philip Drive in greater Leonardtown MD. The homeowners are extremely welcoming. Birders may visit between 8am and 4pm. Visitors may walk on the driveway but please stay on the asphalt, do not go onto the deck, and do not wander around the yard. Please park along the left side of the road between the first house on Philip and this house (both houses are on the left side). If that space is full, please try to avoid parking directly in front of another house.
