Subject: [MBBIRDS] Hooded Mergansers at Carmel Valley Ranch Resort
A pair of hoodies was in the golf pond near the club house Sunday.

Abnormally large numbers of Townsend's warblers were plucking some
recently-hatched flying insects from the air, repeatedly fluttering within
arm's reach of humans. The same behavior was not witnessed at Laguna Grande
the same day, so that kind of insect hatching may have been very localized.
Any idea what the bugs might be? This was in oaks 100 meters from the
Carmel River.
