Well, it looks like the North Carolina Bird Records Committee is going to
get a Barrow's Goldeneye report to vote on after all. As 2 of them -- a
pair -- were reported on eBird way back in December 2014, on an NC lake, I
see no other option than taking a vote on the information presented in the
eBird report, unless the observer provides more details (4 years after the
fact). I am on the NC BRC, but am not a voting member; and thus I feel
like this is a matter than needs to have some conclusion.

Note that the recent Fort Fisher "Barrow's" Goldeneye was not rejected by
the Birding Police. It has been rejected by the Avian Supreme Court (which
is, of course, a euphemism for the first term).

Also note that this species is not on either the North Carolina or the
South Carolina bird lists, and thus the bar is set quite high for
acceptance of any reports -- especially sight reports.
