Greetings birders,

There was a small, unexpected incursion of Lapland Longspurs into northern
Franklin County over the weekend involving as many as nine individual birds
with 3 together on the taxi-way at Turner's Falls Airfield on the 17th and
6 together in the Caldwell Road fields, Northfield on the 18th. Some pics
along with other species from this weekend can be seen here;

Other locally notable species included an Iceland Gull (2nd-cycle) at
Turner's Falls during 15th - 18th, a Cackling Goose at Turner's Falls power
canal on the 16th/17th and a Bonaparte's Gull at Turner's Falls on the
17th.

The long staying female Surf Scoter was still present at Barton Cove, Gill
on the 18th when it was joined by a pair of Greater Scaup.

Good birding,

James
