Thank you Joe for this alert. If you are still around, the Western Grebe is currently at Loyola park, South of the pier, not too far from the Harlequin and Coot.

One advantage to doing an early morning observation of a student teacher is that I had a chance to run down to the lake to look for the Western Grebe. No luck yet, but the continuing Harlequin Duck is next to the Farwell Pier, hanging with a coot. And then the nice surprise: a Long-tailed Duck is hanging with the Mallards right next to the Lunt breakwater. Close enough for a bad iPhone photo!
