Subject: [MBBIRDS] Support Efforts to Protect Monterey's breeding Heermann's Gulls
Hi Birders

Next Thursday, November 15, the City Council of Seaside will decide whether
to let Monterey Audubon build a nesting colony platform for Heermann's
Gulls in Roberts Lake. For those who haven't followed our efforts to try
and protect the only breeding colony in the US of these distinct and
beautiful gulls, check out this article in the Monterey Herald from last

But we can't assume the support of the council is a foregone conclusion. If
you care about these birds and want to help them adapt to a rapidly
changing climate by helping cement a place for them here on Monterey Bay,
please write the Seaside City Council and City Clerk, be sure to CC the
clerk) and let them know they should let us build the nesting platform at
Roberts Lake:

Ralph Rubio – Mayor of Seaside
Dennis Alexander – Mayor Pro Tem. <dalexander...>
Jason Campbell - Council member. <jcampbell...>
David Pacheco - Council member. <dpacheco...>
Kayla Jones - Council member.

Please cc all e-mails to the City Clerk at <CityClerk...>
