While hunting for the Western Grebe, which I did not locate, I was surprised to find a Virginia Rail hanging around the low fence at the entrance to Juneway Terrace Park. We can hope that the bird finds more suitable habitat soon.
I saw the Piping Plover at the usual spot at Montrose, along with a Least Sandpiper, 8 Sanderlings, and a lone Dunlin. I also saw a purple finch at Montrose and a pair of American Kestrels.
