There are two Hermit Thrush outside my window as I type this.  They are feeding on grape vines.  Outside the "chuck" sound they make can be heard in the woods, so there must be many.  The first sighting of Hermit Thrush here at Erbie was two days ago.  Maybe you'll start seeing or hearing them soon.JackNewton County

Keep some of your yard messy. All our thrushes of either kind have been heard &/or seen in thickets edging the open areas. These are rather large thickets--several acres, and do border the WMA, which just across the road has become a jungle. Other parts are regularly plowed up and planted with grasses & millet, formerly corn until feral hogs laid waste to it.

I am wondering if their habitat requirements change throughout the year... or, more likely, SOME of the habitat they like is what changes during the year and they focus on stuff that they prefer that hasn't changed as much. Hopefully that thought isn't too confusing.
