Species in ALL CAPS can be classified into three categories in the state of Iowa: 1) UNRECORDED, ACCIDENTAL or Casual; 2) A RARE but regular species; or 3) record early or late date or unusual for time of year. A WESTERN SANDPIPER was seen at Legacy WA on the 27th.
CERRO GORDO COUNTY:
A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen along Fallspark Dr on the 31st.
The YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON that has been hanging around for the past month at the north arm of Lake McBride, is now record late, and was last seen on the 29th.
A SURF SCOTER was seen at Goose Lake on the 31st. It was seen again on the 1 st.
A RED-NECKED GREBE was seen from the south boundary of Hawkeye WA on the 31 st.
3 BLACK SCOTERS were seen from the DNR HQ parking lot at Hawkeye WA on the 1 st.
BLACK HAWK COUNTY:
A GOLDEN EAGLE was seen over Waterloo on the 29th.
*A BLACK SCOTER was seen at Saylorville on the 29th. It was seen again, along with a SURF SCOTER on the 31st.*
*A late GREEN HERON was seen at Terra Park on the 1st.*
