Subject: [CT Birds] White-winged Crossbill flyover Avon
Avon, Fisher Meadows.

Single stocky finch with notched tail, undulating flight. Flying north to
south. Vocalizing pretty constantly a bisyllabic tchet-tchet, staccato-ish
but relatively soft and much less tonal than Red Crossbill.

Followed with binoculars but did not land. Seemed unlikely but clearly a
larger finch and voice distinctive.

Also late birds: Osprey (caught a fish in Spring Lake), Eastern Phoebe,
Field Sparrow.
