Subject: [CT Birds] Lighthouse Point Park - 325 Migrating Hawks Thursday
Lighthouse Point Park, New Haven, 10-25-2018, 7am-5pm - 325 Hawks observed migrating with the help of Ed Haesche, Mike Marsano, Ken Merrifield, and Sol Satin.

A Good day for Sharp-shinned Hawks. And a real good day for Northern Goshawk, as previously reported. Before 9:30 am, Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, Robins, and Blue Birds are now beginning to migrate in large numbers. Today, about 2,000 Grackles and 5,000 Blackbirds were seen with Robins usually mixed in with these flocks.

As for the hawk count: 8 Bald Eagle, 27 Northern Harrier, 194 Sharp-shinned Hawk, 27 Cooper’s Hawk, 1 immature Northern Goshawk, 10 Red-shouldered Hawk, 11 Red-tailed Hawk, 33 American Kestrel, 4 Merlin, 9 Unknown Accipiter, and 1 Unknown Falcon.
