Subject: [cobirds] Boulder hummingbird ID help
A hummingbird just showed up at our feeder in North Boulder (Riverside Ave/
Redwood Ave). Not being familiar with fall hummers in the west I'd be
grateful for assistance with identification. Photos follow below.
Red-yellow spot on throat. Lacks extensive specklings on throat. Throat
distinctly white compared to dusky-dirty chest. Bill very slightly
decurved. No white eyeline, but white spot behind the eye. Grayish flanks
(perhaps a suggestion of buff). White on outer ends of tail feathers.
Immature male broad-tail?
