Headed to Lake Manawa in hopes of seeing the Red-necked Grebe rNOT seen)
but ran into the Padelfords which was very nice. Had an immature Surf
Scoter as a surprise. Did not see the post about the Pacific Loon as I
passed not far away on my way for a little Washington county birding. 10
new tics but overall the birding was very difficult. Hit all of the Boyer
Chute areas as well as a number of other place. NOT one duck species
despite the many flooded areas. On water species were Pied-billed Grebe
and Canada Goose.

Seems very strange as large number of ducks are being seen in central and
eastern Iowa and further west in Nebraska. Just not much along the
Missouri lately. Any thoughts on this?
