Date: 10/16/18 2:48 pm From: Rena Cohen <rena1729...> [ILbirds] <ILbirds-noreply...> Subject: IBET Barn Owl program tonight in Highland Park (NO SIGHTINGS)
Barn Owls were listed as Illinois-endangered in 1977. The species is now being delisted, thanks to a recovery plan that has included more than 200 new nest boxes, monitoring of more than 450 boxes overall, and habitat protection efforts. Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Terry Esker, a member of the recovery team, will discuss the program, its success, and challenges still faced in maintaining Barn Owl populations in the state at tonight's Lake/Cook Chapter monthly meeting in Highland Park.
The meeting begins at 7 pm at Heller Nature Center, 2821 Ridge Road, Highland Park. A full list of programs and field trips is at http://www.lakecookaudubon.org.
