Subject: Yellow-bellied sapsucker behavior, Schenley Park, Allegheny
Today in Schenley Park I saw a young yellow-bellied sapsucker flycatching from a dead snag.  It was perched in the normal upright position on the snag but when it saw bugs flying by it would sally out to get one.  It did this at least five times before it left the snag.  With binoculars I managed to see it capture a bug.  Neat behavior for a woodpecker.
