Subject: [VA-bird] Ron Pittaway's Winter Finch Forecast
The annual winter finch forecast from Ron Pittaway in Ontario is out and it looks like an irruption year for many species. Cone and birch seed crops are poor in much of Ontario and the Northeast. We’ve already seen some evidence of the movement with the numerous reports of red-breasted nuthatches, and early reports of purple finches. Looks like pine siskins should be on the way and maybe a few harder to find species like common redpoll and evening grosbeak showing up.

Here is the full forecast:

Could be an exciting winter!
