From about 6:15 PM to 7:30 PM this evening I had 18 over Tenleytown in NW DC, which is the highest count I’ve personally recorded for this species in DC. Most were quite high though, and I did not see any foraging behavior. The majority appeared to be moving west or southwest, but a few individuals (mainly after 7:10) were moving southeast. This isn’t as high a count as some suburban localities in this area can garner during fall migration, but is a pretty respectable count for us here in the city.
