Subject: [VA-bird] Great Falls NP Bird Walk 08/26/2018 (Fairfax County)
Following is the count from Sunday's weekly bird walk at Great Falls National Park, which identified approximately 27 species and included 16 participants. The walk was fairly quiet from a species standpoint (!) with a surfeit of swifts (my collective) over the falls; and black ducks upriver from the park Visitors' Center and on Clay Pond. A particularly warm welcome back to those folks who were away for much of the summer!
This walk meets at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings, rain or shine, in front of the snack bar/concession stand of the Great Falls National Park Visitors' center; it does not take place, though, during electrical storms, heavy snows, or when the trails are icy. All those with an interest in the natural world - beginning and experienced birders alike - please join us.
