The Northern Virginia Bird Club kicked off the fall season at Huntley Meadows in Fairfax County this morning. We were looking for migrants and we found a few. We saw four species of warblers including Canada, Common Yellowthroat, Prothonotary and a Northern Waterthrush. The only shorebirds we spotted were a Killdeer and a Spotted Sandpiper. Other highlights included several Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. a Blue Grosbeak, Great-crested Flycatchers and Green Herons. There was no sign of the Olive-sided Flycatcher that was found yesterday. We will be at the Hike-Bike side of Huntley Meadows next Saturday at 7:30 AM. All are welcome to join us.
