My wife and I were bicycling in Westport, MA this morning, and saw two large flocks of tree swallows. The first group, estimated at perhaps 300+ birds, were flying from the marshes north of Horseneck Beach toward Gooseberry Island. The second group probably around 200 birds, was largely perched in the junipers and scrub oak at Demarest Lloyd State Park. I didn’t have binoculars with me to scan for anything unusual. Guess it’s time to start getting ready for autumn.
