Subject: [AZNMbirds] SEAZ: San Bernardino NWR, Slaughter Ranch Green Kingfishers, Painted Buntings
Hi Folks:

Today, at SBNWR, there was a fly-by Green Kingfisher in Black Draw by the
Twin Ponds outflow (the main N/S drainage line just below the main road
crossing), and two male Painted Buntings (Oasis Pond, North Pond). An
immature Green Kingfisher (fully fledged) was at House Pond at Slaughter
Ranch. [two young Green Kingfishers had been at Twin Ponds on 1 July]. In
general, there may be a fair chance for both species, but not necessarily
where they were last.

San Bernardino NWR is 15 miles east of Douglas on 15th Street = Geronimo
Trail and is open to walk-in visitors all daylight hours. Slaughter Ranch
is open Wed-Sun 10-3 (fee), and is 14 miles E of Douglas on Geronimo Trail.
