I saw the bird yesterday, July 8, around 1:00, thanks to two men who said they had also seen it earlier in the day.  40.900054, -73.232931.  Apparently it often disappears for long periods, hiding around the edge.  There is a path that goes all the way around the pond, but view is blocked by vegetation for most of it.  I posted a photo on New York Birders, facebook.

What a beautiful lovely area!
