Subject: [nysbirds-l] 6/30 Cupsogue, Suffolk Co. - Sandwich Tern
During a sunset rising tide session at Cupsogue, a Sandwich Tern dropped in very briefly to the flats (less than 90 seconds) before heading out to sea. It was an alternate bird, sporting a metal band on its right leg.

Additional noteworthy sights included my first southbound shorebirds of the season: 5 Greater Yellowlegs and a Least Sandpiper, both species independently moving east to west down the bay shore at dusk.

Good birding,
Michael McBrien
