Date: 6/30/18 5:25 pm From: Peter H Yaukey <PYaukey...> Subject: [LABIRD-L] Swallow-tailed Kite at Madere Marsh Overlook, New Orleans
A Swallow-tailed was out of place today, high over the Madere Marsh Overlook in Bayou Sauvage NWR, riding a thermal with a couple Black Vultures and a Great Blue Heron.
They do not nest on the south side of Lake Pontchartrain. Failed nester beginning to wander?
PS- the marsh is quite dry at Madere- I bet the the impoundment on Recovery Rd beyond the landfill is muddy and loaded with birds- didn't have time to make the walk out today.
