I forgot to mention the Willets were in breeding plumage. After all
these years, this was our first time seeing them this way. I have a
few average/poor sort of photos in my eBird report:

We checked on shorebirds at Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary in
West Alton, MO today, 6/30/18. Although mudflats abounded, we only
found 2 Willets, a Spotted Sandpiper and a Least Sandpiper - all out
in Ellis Bay.
Least Terns were all over the place. One young had fallen off the
barge and was swimming around in the water. Not sure if rescue was
needed, we asked at the Audubon Center. The little one continuously
swam around the barge instead of swimming shore. We figured he might
get weary and drown, but we don't know much about what Least Tern
young are capable of.
