Yesterday the three male Redhead with the one female continue on N Spit
Coos Bay. That would be a new breeder for the south coast if not just
late/early migrants? A few Gadwall with young plus Cinnamon Teal with half
grown young already. I think the latter have nested here every year for
going on a decade now, haven’t found them breeding elsewhere in the county
in recent years although they probable are somewhere.
While walking at Millicoma Marsh at 0500 this AM there was a Barn Owl
hunting low over the marsh like SE Owls do. Flew right by us several times-
way cool looks at the owl! The usual breeders- a chat, a BT Gray Warbler, a
few Yellows, many yellowthroats, Wobbling Vireos, several BH Grosbeaks, and
a few truckloads of Swainson’s Thrushes.
