Subject: [sd-birds] Mockingbirds, Sully Co.
On Monday afternoon, 11 June, I found two Northern Mockingbirds in NE
Sully Co. The location is 181 St. @ 323 Ave. They were foraging in the
grass north of the road, then flew into trees south of the road. One
was singing. There's an abandoned farm with those trees, an old
shelterbelt that extends a half mile to the west. The next day I spent
an hour along the road there, but did not re-locate the mockingbirds.
I did find a pair of Loggerhead Shrikes, one on a nest, at the far
west end of the shelterbelt.
Lots of longspurs on the prairies there!
