On the Rogue/Siskiyou NF, Noble Fir, Red Fir have exchanged genes (hybridized) and a pure species of either is next to impossible to be found. This population (found at the highest elevations) is referred to as Shasta Red Fir. The White Fir/Grande Fir have undergone the same hybridization), occurred during the last ice age.
