Subject: IBET The Grove In Glenview Thursday 6-7-18
Hello Bird People,

My low key adventures continue with a visit to The Grove in Glenview.
Main target was a Yellow Billed Cuckoo as they have been reported from
here & I have had them here last year. However, I did not have them
today although I certainly looked hard enough. And I was at a loss as
to the Top Bird for the day until the very end when a good candidate
showed up. Here's my day list:

The Grove (7:20-10:50 a.m.)

Great Egret (1)
Canada Geese (3 fly-bys)
Wood Duck (2 fly-bys)
Mallard (3 fly-bys)
Red Tailed Hawk (1 fly-by)
Herring Gull (1 fly-by)
Mourning Dove (2)
Red Bellied (4) & Downy (2) Woodpeckers
Flicker (1)
Eastern Pewee (5)
Eastern Phoebe (1)
Great Crested Flycatcher (1 or 2)
Blue Jay (4-6)
W.B. Nuthatch (H-1)
House Wren (H-3)
B.G. Gnatcatcher (1)
Tree Swallow (5-6)
Robins (22-25, in all habitats)
Gray Catbird (3)
Warbling (4) & Red Eyed (3) Vireos
Yellow Warbler (4-5)
Scarlet Tanager (1-M)
Cardinal (4)
Indigo Bunting (3-M & 1-F)
Eastern Towhee (H-1)
Song Sparrow (2)
Red Wings (10), Grackles (6) & Cowbirds (2)

Going with bright colors today Bird-Of-The-Day goes to the male
Scarlet Tanager &
Runner-Up to all the Baltimore Orioles. At least they stood out from the rest.
