At the south unit of Illinois Beach State Park in the woodlands were calling birds Great Crested Flycatchers, a Brown Thrasher and a Yellow-breasted Chat.  Also saw an Orchard Oriole, Brewer's Blackbirds, and Eastern Towhee.  An Eastern Meadowlark and two Sandhill Cranes were in the grassland and a Spotted Sandpiper at the mouth of the Dead River.  A Caspian Tern flew around by the lake.  Overhead a Vulture glided around and also a Snipe flew around high in the sky.  Not a bad morning with the migrants being gone.
