Subject: Common nighthawk, Greenfield, Pittsburgh
This year we have one common nighthawk in the Greenfield section of Pittsburgh.  It swoops above St. Rosalia's every night.
Many have commented that we're seeing far fewer nighthawks, whippoorwills, etc.  All of them are aerial insectivores.  

Last May I wondered about this problem and did some online research which became this blog post, A Common Thread:
I learned that there's been a massive decline in flying insects -- 45% to 81%.  The birds and fish that eat them are declining, too.  Hmmm
